Saturday’s Predictions

First, I want to toot my own horn for picking FIU over La Tech. I missed horribly picking North Texas over Marshall though. The Herd are for real and should be on every CUSA team’s radar.

This prediction deserves an *. If Hooper Vint is sidelined I could see the Roadrunners keeping it interesting. I’ve decided to hold out a little bit of hope for UTSA after they pushed MTSU to the brink in Murfreesboro last Saturday.

Middle Tennessee @ ODU

Things are going to get worse before the get better for the Monarchs. ODU really lacks an inside presence outside of Stith. Harris and Upshaw play much bigger than their measurables, and ODU just doesn’t have the depth down low. Potts had 29 against Charlotte and I don’t see him cooling off in Norfolk.

UAB @ Charlotte

UAB basketball takes 11-game win streak to Charlotte

La Tech @ FAU

The Bulldogs will be facing a formidable big man for the second game in a row. Seven-foot sophomore center Ronald Delph has really started to get his game going in conference play. However, La Tech has the advantage at every other position. The Bulldogs will bounce back after allowing FIU to score 88 on Thursday.

Southern Miss @ FIU

I don’t have any stats or match-ups to back this pick up other than I really respect what Coach Sadler has been able to get out of this rag tag Southern Miss squad.

Marshall @ Rice

I would not be surprised to see these two teams combine for 170+ points. The Herd has scored more than 90 points in all four of it’s CUSA games. Rice has the best scoring duo in the conference in Evans and Koulechov. The Herd will continue their stampede and leave Houston with a win.

WKU @ North Texas

Coach Ray Harper may not be allowed back in Bowling Green if WKU drops this game. North Texas had been playing well at home before running into Marshall’s buzz saw Thursday. I think the Mean Green are going to win a close one.

Week 2 Results: 5-2

Thursday 1/14 Results: 4-2

Overall: 9-4
