The Blazers (21-5, 11-2) fell at the hands of the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech (19-6, 8-4) Saturday afternoon by a score of 85 to 76. The Blazers allowed 56 points in the second half.

All scorers were led by Erik Mcree who dropped 33 points on 11 of 20 shooting. Alex Hamilton chipped in 20 and Merrill Holden contributed 12 as well. Merrill Holden led the Bulldogs in rebounds with 8 boards.

UAB was led by Nick Norton who scored 20 points. Chris Cokley and Robert Brown contributed 16 and 15 respectively. Chris Cokley and Tosin Mehinti both had 8 boards to lead the Blazers rebounding effort.

UAB played very well in the first half keeping the Bulldogs shooting around 7 percent from beyond the arc. However, they certainly headed up in the second half bringing that percentage up to 30 percent.

Personal thoughts.

You can’t win a game allowing the other team to score over 50 points in a half. Committing 20 fouls and sending the other team to the line 26 times is also not a good way to win a game. La Tech is a good team and we knew it would be a challenging game going into it, but we probably could/should have won this one.

The Blazers take the court again a week from Sunday on Feburary 21st at Middle Tenessee State. I hope to see you there!

Go Blazers!
