For the first time in two years the UAB Blazers football team will take the field for spring practice. While we’re still over a year away from them actually playing a game, this is our first opportunity to see Coach Bill Clark and his team on the field.

It’s an exciting time to be a UAB sports fan as the basketball team currently sits atop the Conference USA standings, and baseball season is set to being this weekend at Regions Field.

More than anything though, UAB fans are eager to get a glimpse of what this football team will look like come 2017, and even more than that it’s fun to try and predict just how this team will look and how good they can be once they start playing actual games.

There is no question that this city loves and craves football, and #TheReturn of UAB football will be one of the most anticipated events in Birmingham sports history in my opinion. The beginning of spring practice is just a glimpse of the excitement that will be surrounding this team each and every day as we get closer to that home opener against Alabama A&M on Sept. 2, 2017.

Here at UAB Blazer Bloggin’ we will do our best to bring you coverage from all UAB athletics from a fan’s perspective.

Now is a great time to get behind UAB athletics. It’s not just about #TheReturn, it’s about this city. As someone who grew up in this city and loves this city, I think it’s important that we get behind the team of this city and support them as best we can.
