Hot on the heels of the news of the UAB Football team scheduling SEC power Texas A&M, as well as talking with Auburn about potential future match ups, it was announced today that Alabama Power has pledged $500,000 towards the new football facilities.

This announcement makes Alabama Power the second company in the past three weeks, joining Protective Life Corporation, to donate $500,000 towards the proposed $15 million dollar project.

It’s possible they could break ground on these new facilities as early as this summer, and they would include locker rooms, a weight room, film rooms and other athletic facilities.

The most important thing about this whole ordeal is that this becomes a huge selling point for Coach Clark in recruiting. People are already excited about football being back in Birmingham, and this just adds fuel to the fire when it comes to bringing in high profile players.

This is an exciting time for UAB football, and who knows who might step up in a major way next to fuel The Return!

Its a great day to be a Blazer!
