After months of persistent commitment from the UAB staff, Makhtar Gueye is one step closer to being a Blazer.
The pursuit of Gueye was first reported early in April when the Blazers became his first college offer.
Following his offer from UAB, Gueye caught the interest of Creighton – along with UCONN who offered in mid-May.
Gueye was attending The Winchendon School in Massachusetts this prior season before moving to the Aspire Academy in Scottsdale, Ariz. over the summer.
The 6-foot-10 power forward began his school visits with unofficial visits to UCONN and Grand Canyon in June and September followed by official visits to Old Dominion, Monmouth, UAB, DePaul, and finally Rutgers this fall.
Gueye used all five of his allowed official visits before verbally committing to the Blazers.
UAB hosted Gueye on September 10 leaving such an impression that visits to DePaul and Rutgers would not be enough to sway the Senegalian.
Class Of 2017
Gueye’s commitment is the second this year for the Blazers who started the fall recruiting period off with a bang corralling Providence School of Jacksonville guard Zack Bryant.
