Conference USA was really close to having a ton of solid wins in week 3. Charlotte and Middle Tennessee sealed the deal against power teams, but others came up short.
Rice and Western Kentucky were narrowly edged by one possession in their games at Texas Tech and Missouri.
UAB saw a four point halftime lead over Auburn disappear and ultimately lost at home in front of a sold out Bartow Arena by four.
La Tech lost in overtime on the road to a solid Cal Bear team, but followed it up with a shellacking of a pesky Southeastern Louisiana squad in Ruston on Saturday.
Old Dominion was business as usual in their 8-point home win over Dartmouth and their more impressive than it seems win by two on the road at Towson.
Western Kentucky is on a 4-game losing streak. This past week they got pounded on the road at Eastern Kentucky, but showed up in Colombia and nearly stole the win from Missouri.
North Texas got handled by 16 via a really good UT-Arlington team in Denton.
FAU just can’t seem to get over the hump. They narrowly lost at UT-Martin 82-81 on Tuesday and gave away the game to Hofstra 88-80 in Boca Raton on Saturday.
UTEP has continued it’s downward spiral losing to Northwestern St. by double-digits at home Saturday night.
Marshall had a really good win at home over a top 100 Ohio team on Wednesday only to follow it up with a 89-80 road loss to Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
Southern Miss, who has played just three Division 1 teams this season, lost by double-digits at South Alabama Wednesday and take their show down the road to Jackson State Sunday afternoon.
Lastly, FIU lost on the road in overtime to a solid Elon team and are down big at South Carolina today (Sunday) as I’m writing this.
