Fresh off his first career start, the freshman from Woodlawn went off for 21 points in 25 minutes, which is the most points by a freshman since Nick Norton scored 26 in overtime against Charlotte in 2015.

Williams was a smooth 6-of-9  from the floor and converted 8 out of his 10 free throws.

Stephen F. Austin came hard at UAB early with their full press defense and trapping, but Williams and co., despite 20 turnovers, survived the onslaught and went into the half up 37-30.

Both Chris Cokley and SFA’s TJ Holyfield were hindered with foul trouble in the first half and went into the locker room with zero points between them.

William Lee garnered the MVP award after he produced a gaudy stat line of 17 points (6-of-6), 9 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
