UAB has definitely hit their stride, and it could not have come at a better time. After some dominating wins against the Hilltoppers and the Thundering Herd, the Blazers look to keep the momentum going with a road stint to Florida. Thursday evening the Blazers take on the Owls of Florida Atlantic.
The last meeting between these two teams was a lot closer than it should have been, coming down to a last second block by William Lee to seal the victory. And the last time the Owls were in Bartow the Blazers beat them by 40 points. Honestly, UAB should win this one big. This FAU team lost to a not very good UTEP team and have only won five games this season.

UAB is coming off of their greatest 2-game performance this season. Dominating both WKU and Marshall seems to be propelling UAB in the right direction for the rest of the season. In last season’s two match-ups against FAU, it was a tale of two teams. At home, UAB destroyed FAU leading by nearly 40 points during the game. At FAU, it took a massive HaHa block to secure the win. However, this FAU team seems like they have only had one decent game all year and that was the Ohio State win. Even though UAB has had problems at FAU, I do not think that is much of the case this year. I hope Lee pulls out another huge double-double. Also, I would love to see UAB get this game stretched out early to give some more playing time for people like Smallwood, Darling, and Javien.

UAB heads to the Sunshine State and makes its first stop in Boca Raton to play the Florida Atlantic Owls. The Owls come into this game only winning one conference game so far against Florida International. The Blazers have won four straight with two impressive wins last week against Western Kentucky and Marshall. I said last week that if UAB beat Marshall then Conference USA better look out. William Lee has been on fire of late and the Blazer offense seems to be clicking as they dropped 60 points in the second half against Marshall. The Owls will have their hands full trying to defend this Blazer team. They are led by Adonis Filer who leads the team with 10.3 points a game. I don’t see how the Blazers have any trouble in this one as they should roll. The only thing really exciting thing about this game will be if Lane Kiffin is in attendance or not. UAB wins big.

As has been mentioned, the UAB Blazers are on a roll right now. The team that I watched play against Marshall on Saturday is the team we expected to see all season. For whatever reason – new coach and Nick Norton injury – this team did not play up to it’s potential early on. Hopefully they have put that behind them now and can go on a stretch like they did last year. I’ve picked against the Blazers in their last two games, and while I hate to change things up during a streak, I’m going to have to pick the Blazers in this one. I will be highly disappointed if they lose this game. The only way they do is if they become complacent and lose focus.
Score Prediction: UAB 81 FAU 67
