Rob Ehsan and staff secured their fourth piece of the 2017 class today in guard Jalen Perry from John A. Logan College in Cartsersville, Ill. Perry joins Makhtar Gueye, Luis Hurtado, and Zack Bryant who signed in the fall.
As al.com’s Drew Champlin mentions in his article, Perry’s skill set is a perfect fit to fill the perimeter shooting void UAB experienced last season. During his second season in the junior college ranks, the 6-foot-2 guard converted 83-of-180 of his 3-point shots in 30 games played. For comparison, UAB’s leading 3-point shooter Dirk Williams converted 61-of-178 in 33 games played.
Out of high school Perry was considered one of the best players coming out of Kentucky and ultimately chose to attend Middle Tennessee State over New Orleans. Perry was dismissed from the team before the season began.
