Former UAB basketball guard Dirk Williams has signed with the DBL Sharks out of the British Basketball League (BBL).
Williams was third on the team in scoring last year averaging 10.5 points per game. He also averaged 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. In his junior year with UAB he averaged 9.3 points per game, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in just 18.9 minutes per game.
The DBL Sharks play their home games at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield, which is located in Sheffield, England. If any UAB fans are planning a trip to the UK, maybe they can check out the former Blazer in action.
The BBL hosts a couple of different competitions each year. The biggest being the BBL Championship, which is a 36-game regular season schedule followed by the BBL Playoffs. They also hold a BBL Cup, which is a knockout competition between all 12 BBL teams.
The BBL Championship regular season begins on September 29 and runs through April 29, 2018 with the BBL Playoffs starting on May 5/6.
