UAB Director of Athletics, Mark Ingram, announced on Thursday that UAB football will play the Georgia Bulldogs during the 2021 season.

The game is set for Sept. 11, 2021, which will most likely be the second weekend of the college football season. The Blazers already have two other non-conference games scheduled for that season. They’ll play Tulane on September 25 and Liberty on October 2.

That means UAB is probably looking for a non-conference opponent to open the season with at home — like an Alabama A&M.

Georgia is the fourth SEC school the Blazers have scheduled since the return was announced. They’ll play Florida later this year, Texas A&M on Nov. 11, 2018 and Tennessee on Nov. 2, 2019.

My guess is that they’re also looking for an SEC opponent in 2020. Right now they have Akron scheduled for September 12 and South Alabama for September 26 in 2020.

The UAB baseball team also traveled to Athens this past season to play Georgia and won 1-of-3 competitive games.
