Here are The Daily Dragon’s staff predictions for the week eight game against at Charlotte.

Russell Brasseale

UAB hits the road to Charlotte, N.C. to face the 49ers Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Coming off a win at home against Middle Tennessee the Blazers sit at 4-2 (2-1) and are tied for second place in the Conference USA Western Division. Charlotte is coming off a 45-14 loss to Western Kentucky and have not won a game this season. These are games the Blazers cannot afford to lose, and just because they are winless does not mean you can overlook an opponent. The 49ers will look to establish the run game early and often. In the beginning of the season I predicted UAB would win this game and nothing this season has changed my mind of that prediction. I do think it may be a little closer than many would think as UAB is still looking for its first road win of the season, but the Blazers should be victorious nonetheless. Winning this game and getting to win number five before November would be monumental. Side note, if Coach Clark isn’t in the conversation for Coach of the Year they don’t need that award.

Prediction: UAB 31 Charlotte 10

UAB doesn’t have to prove anything to us die hard supporters, but they have something to prove to themselves this weekend. Can we win on the the road without the magic of our city? You couldn’t write up a better script than winning on Saturday and then going to our rival Southern Miss next Saturday in pursuit of a bowl bid. Like we’ve mentioned a couple times this week, we only lose to Charlotte if we beat ourselves. This will be a great opportunity for us to overcome complacency and get our first road win of the season. The word is Charlotte will have their starting quarterback and running back back this week, and let me tell you, they can be extremely dangerous despite what their stats and record have shown. We’ll be tested in the trenches, and our lane discipline must be up to the task.

Prediction: UAB 38 Charlotte 7

Jake Mastroianni

I don’t think many expected UAB to be 4-2 at this point in the season. Some had the Blazers going 3-3 through the first half of the season, and even though it’s just a one game difference, it’s a huge difference. They now travel to face a Charlotte team that hasn’t won all year. This is the type of game that UAB needs come out strong in and not lay off the gas. The key to stopping Charlotte will be controlling the line of scrimmage, and I think our front seven on defense is better than their offensive line. A.J. Erdely has a chance to have a big game throwing the football, and I hope the coaching staff let’s him sling it around. This is a game UAB loses only if the beat themselves. They are a much better team than Charlotte, but playing on the road can be difficult. Coach Clark will have the guys ready and this should be an easy win for the Blazers.

Prediction: UAB 34 Charlotte 17
