With the regular season now over, and most high school football teams wrapping up their seasons, we’ll see where the 2018 UAB football recruiting class is currently at.

According to 247Sports, UAB has 14 hard commits at this point and rank eighth among Conference USA teams. Those commits include four 3-star players and five 2-star players.

The last time we did this update back on September 28th, the UAB class had 14 commits and ranked 10th in Conference USA.

The biggest news since that update is the commitment of 3-star wide receiver Myron Mitchell out of Butler CC. The 6-foot, 170 pound receiver could step in and have an immediate impact in 2018.

Also, corner back Starling Thomas V has been upgraded from a 2-star to a 3-star, giving UAB four 3-star commits with defensive end Michael Fairbanks and quarterback Dylan Hopkins.

Wide receiver Atorian Perry wasn’t ranked last time we did this update, but is now listed as a 2-star. Same for wide receiver Austin Watkins, giving the Blazers a huge class of talented wide receivers.

Looking forward

Last time we talked about tight end Katerian Legone as a possible commit to UAB, but he has since picked UCF.

Jacorey Johns was also mentioned, but took his one power five offer from Wake Forest.

We talked about Thompson High School linebacker Jalen Ryam last time as well. The 2-star linebacker still hasn’t made his decision, but with Thompson now out of the high school playoffs, look for him to pick the Blazers soon.

Two-star cornerback Cardavion Myers is still showing interest in the Blazers, but Western Kentucky looks like the favorite. Piedmont is still in the playoffs, so don’t expect a decision from him soon.

There hasn’t been much change otherwise for this recruiting class. As is, this is still a solid group with almost as many 3-stars in this class as last year’s with plenty of time to go.

With the regular season over, expect to see a lot more news coming out over the next couple of weeks and for the recruiting trail to heat up with the high school season almost over. In fact, rumor is UAB could have a commitment or two today.
