There are no giant slaying games on the docket for today but there a many here worth keeping an eye on.
The Tops should be able to handle a mediocre Wright State team to improve to 6-2 this season. They are playing as well as any team in the conference right now.
Marshall will look to avenge a road loss to the Zips last season when they host a pretty solid Akron team later today. Jon Elmore is much watch TV.
Middle travels down to FGCU after having just hosted them Nov 21. I kind of like the home-and-home non-conference scheduling as it gives both teams a chance to have a solid opponent two times instead of a cupcake. I think middle will win and sweep this season’s series.
ODU at VCU is the conference game of the day and the Monarchs could really use this one. At 5-2 things were looking good until they lost on a half court buzzer beating heave to William and Mary this week. Getting a win versus their long time rival will right the ship.
North Texas at UT Arlington intrigues me after watching the Mean Green hang with a really good Oklahoma team for most of the game earlier this week. The Mavericks are one of the the best mid-majors in the country but I think McCasland can have his guys ready to make a game of it.
UTEP hosts New Mexico and will probably continue their losing streak. The Miners are injured and rudderless.
Charlotte has gotten off the a bleh start having beaten some bad teams and looking very inferior to the good teams. A road win could help them get back on track but I’m not counting on it.
