The Blazers will meet a familiar foe at Legacy Arena Saturday in hopes of getting back to their winning ways as conference play looms
UAB is 10-0 versus the Bulldogs from Huntsville and they’ll most likely lengthen that streak tomorrow as they are one of the worst teams in Division 1 basketball. Sitting at 6-4, the Blazers have had some bright moments through the first two months of the season but unfortunately the four losses in winnable games have left a sour taste for many. At this point one would hope an experienced and talented team will take this opportunity to shift in to another gear and show why so many believed they are built to win a championship.
Following the A&M game, UAB will continue their cupcake party when they host New Orleans and Mississippi Valley State who both have yet to beat a Division 1 opponent this season. In all likely hood the Blazers will be 9-4 when the reining champs Middle Tennessee, who snuck out of Bartow with a two point win last season, come to Birmingham.
Alabama A&M is win-less this season and rank near the bottom at nearly every meaningful statistical category. Facing a team like this can be a good thing as UAB could use a comfortable confidence boosting blow out in front of a crowd mixed with four different fan bases. No injuries and sound play should be their goal the next couple of weeks as they’ll have the luxury of not having to leave Birmingham again until January 4.
